More than 25 years ago AMTA
was created in Atlanta, Georgia by 15 engineers to promote advances
in antenna and radar cross-section measurements. Today, more than
400 AMTA members from around the world meet each year to improve the
state-of-the-art of antenna measurement theory and techniques.

The Sensor Array and
Multichannel (SAM) technical committee of the IEEE Signal Processing
Society announces the third SAM workshop to be held July 18-21, 2004
in Sitges (Barcelona, Spain). The SAM workshop is the principal IEEE
workshop devoted to array processing. The program of SAM 2004 will
emphasize both the traditional areas and applications of sensor
array and multichannel signal processing and new areas/applications
of growth through distinguished lectures and contributed poster
sessions. The organizing committee invites the international
community to present and discuss state-of-the-art developments in
these fields.

The IEE Antennas and
Propagation Professional Network held a two-day technical
seminar on Antenna measurements and SAR on 25th and 26th May 2004.
The event encompassed recent advances of antenna measurements,
and specific absorption rate (SAR) measurements and evaluations with
particular emphasis to wireless and mobile communications. The
technical programme provided both an introduction to those new
to this subject, and attempted to air problems in antenna and SAR
measurements. Our paper,
"Signal Processing Techniques improve Antenna Pattern Measurement",
was presented on the afternoon of Wednesday, 26th May 2004.
