AMTA is celebrating 26 years of
success with a rich history and technology. The AMTA organization is
using this success as an opportunity to kick off a global
initiative. After a very successful
AMTA Europe Short Course 2004 in Munich (Germany)
we will now create an Asian forum for discussion and reflection on
Antenna Measurement Techniques. This is part of the AMTA long-range
plan of having an international AMTA symposium each year,
alternating between Europe and Asia.

The 2005 IEEE International
Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and the 2005 USNC/URSI (U.S.
National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science)
National Radio Science meeting will be held jointly on July 3-8,
2005 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The symposium
and meeting are co-sponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation
Society (AP-S) and the USNC/URSI Commissions A, B, D, E, F, and K.
The technical sessions, workshops, and short courses will be
coordinated between the two symposia to provide a comprehensive and
well-balanced program. This meeting is intended to provide an
international forum for the exchange of information on
state-of-the-art research in antennas, propagation, and
electromagnetic engineering.

The IEE Antennas and
Propagation Professional Network held a two-day technical
seminar on Antenna measurements and SAR on 25th and 26th May 2004.
The event encompassed recent advances of antenna measurements,
and specific absorption rate (SAR) measurements and evaluations with
particular emphasis to wireless and mobile communications. The
technical programme provided both an introduction to those new
to this subject, and attempted to air problems in antenna and SAR
measurements. Our paper,
"Signal Processing Techniques improve Antenna Pattern Measurement",
was presented on the afternoon of Wednesday, 26th May 2004.
