Spring 2004 Newsletter

24th March 2004

Since our last newsletter, Fizzle Technologies has published more results, made yet more progress and devised further plans.

In the December 2003 issue of IEE Electronics Letters, we published our peer-reviewed paper, "Plane wave spectra, test-zone fields and simulation of antenna-pattern measurements."

At the same time, we completed the first phase of a programme of experimental work together with our colleagues at TSC-UPC Barcelona, a recognised Antenna Centre of Excellence.

The results of our work with Jordi Romeu's group at TSC-UPC certainly represent the most exciting and interesting development of the past six months. Together we have demonstrated that established signal processing techniques, well-known and of proven value in the communications field, can be applied very easily to improve the quality of antenna pattern measurements. Technology transfer has taken on a different meaning! The results, which will be presented at two conferences during the next few months conclusively establish the great potential of Fizzle's technology.

We will be presenting our results at IEE AMS 2004 (Loughborough, UK, 25th – 26th May) and at IEEE/USNC/URSI APS 2004 (Monterey, CA, USA, 20th – 26th June 2004).

These publications will be complimented by a third paper to be published in IEE Electronics Letters – watch this website for news.

We have also joined forces with pan-European members of both the academic and industrial communities and are working to develop a research consortium to further the development of the techniques described above. We plan to do this under the EU's 6th Framework Programme.

See you at AMTA Europe in Munich, 4th – 7th May.

We cordially invite you to keep in touch by e-mail if you are interested in collaborating with us or wish to be kept up to date on progress on our exciting projects.
